The Montenegrin gastronomy is a mix of several influences : Balkanic on the north (sauce, lamb cooked in his milk, polenta with kaïmak, grilled meat on a stick), Italian on the coast (Risotto with cuttlefish and its ink, grilled fish, squid).
Njegoš smoked ham is the most common cold starter. Seafood, olive oil, cheese and local wine are of high quality.
